while reading on a military pagan bulletin board on the Army’s website:
It might seem odd that Pagans (the majority of whom strongly espouse peace – although who doesn’t, really?) find in themselves a strong draw toward the military. But, as I’ve always said, an army of noble purpose does not exist to create war, but only to wage war, when it cannot be avoided, so as to bring peace. By bringing ourselves and our values into the military, we are ensuring that wars are more likely to be fought in a noble manner, one which minimizes suffering. To think ourselves morally exempt from war would be to hand the reins of battle over to those less enlightened than ourselves.
